Film: Brigade Electronics Urban Vehicle Safety (360 degrees Back-eye)

We devised and animated a 2 minute video to showcase the usability and uniqueness of the company's "BackeyeⓇ360" product in an Urban environment. This was a three month animation project, translated into multiple languages and made suitable for countries using both left and right-hand drive.

We also created a Yard Vehicle version of the animation.

The challenge

Brigade Electronics is a market leader in vehicle safety systems with a comprehensive range of products to reduce the risk of collision and maximise efficiency. The challenge was to provide information about the BackEyeⓇ360 in an energetic and stylish way whilst maintaining the core message of vehicle safety.

Our task

Our objective was to demonstrate what hazards the BackEyeⓇ360 (a world-leading product) can see that the truck driver cannot.

How we helped

We used animation to convey a hypothetical Urban world of hazards. We used the white and orange design favoured by Brigade, and an upbeat soundtrack to emphasis the sense of excitement. We made the BackEyeⓇ360 the star of the show with several references to the monitor inside the cab.


Brigade were very pleased with the outcome and used the US version of the video at an exhibition in March 2017.

Learnings that may be relevant to your firm

Here are a few of our own learnings from the making of this case study video. Hopefully they can help you prepare for your next production.

  1. Identitfy problems that the product solves in order to create drama.
  2. Spend time choosing the correct models suitable for international recognition.
  3. Visualise the drama with a storyboard so that your animators can really engage with it.
  4. Specify everything clearly before starting an animation (it is expensive to change afterwards!)
