Case study: jPhone

Film: 'Emperors New Phone'
In a sitting room, we shot this advert for the early adopter market and the fictional jPhone website. Titled 'Emperors new phone', it projects the brand values of the next generation iPhone. It was a 1-day shoot, a 1-day edit and around 3 days pre-production. George Sanderson and Oliver Whitehead filled in the subtle characterisation beautifully.

The challenge

The jPhone is a fictional successor to the iPhone. It's wearable, minimal phone technology. Our self-set challenge was to advertise the new product to a an early adopter audience.

Our task

Our goal was to establish the brand, by dramatising the attitude of early adopters.

How we helped

We created this simple studio video. We filmed the dialogue over two days in our studio with George Sanderson, a trained actor from Sylvia Young School of Drama. And built up the pack shots using vector, painting and animation tools.

Outcomes

Sold millions of units in our own minds! The learning process is always enjoyable.
